That man bringing them into the theater this episode sure sounded a lot like the great David Gruber Allen of The Higgins Boys and Gruber, Freaks and Geeks, and The Naked Trucker fame.  I don’t remember recognizing his voice in the earlier episodes.  I guess I’ll have to go back and check.

It’s Todd Carlin.  He opened up the show in MN.

Yup, that’s him. I didn’t realize it was him until the end credits though.

I didn’t realize it was him either but then I really listened to his voice and it was unmistakable.

Curses, Cornjob, you beat me to it. Yep, it would appear that the fantastic Todd Carlin is now doing the debriefing in each episode. This is simply a brilliant move, and I’m so excited for both him and the CT crew. Just one question:

How about letting him into the theater for a few minutes of riffing? Hey, Todd is a comedic genius, and I’d love to see what he can do. At the very least, Todd, go to Rifftrax and give us an iRiff.

Hey, All!

Yep. That’s our very own Dave Gruber, one of the nicest and funniest individuals you could ever hope to meet. Hope he goes easy on our Titans while debriefing them! Believe it or not, Kiddos, I’ve never seen the original MST3K riffing of this episode and we just got back late last night from Thanksgiving with my family (in a far away place with a strange sounding name) to find our copy had arrived. I can’t wait to watch it!

Yes, Dave ‘Gruber’ Allen is what his real name is, but if he insists on being called Todd Carlin in the CT credits, that’s what I’m going to call him. Wink

Ladonia. Where my Mother and Father live. In a supposedly haunted (although I don’t believe a word of it, even though they keep telling stories of weird happenings, and it turns out several people have died there) house where all of the wells, seats, settees, and benches outside are made completely of quartz. My youngest sister was married there, and the first picture MJ ever saw of me was from a photograph taken at that wedding.

Well, so long as it’s not Hans Gruber.  Laughing

Oh, I wouldn’t doubt it. I’ve seen a lot of convincing Youtube videos.

Like the one where a moth crawled across a camera at a gas station making one of the least believable "ghost" videos I’ve ever seen?  This is the great Captain Disillusion’s take on that…

I knew it was coming, too! Mwahahaha!

I don’t believe in ghosts or anything like that, normally. But when something just comes up, such as something I set down and it’s just gone, I get skeptical :P. I was at my sister-in-laws apartment in Evertt, Washington and my two special rings disappeared. I looked all over! The place was said to be haunted so…. One ring was under a box where I accidentally forgot I had placed it there, and the second was under the S.I.L’s bed, where her cat keeps her stash. But! That doesn’t keep me away from my favorite horro flicks!

Oh, and the first time I saw Gruber, I kept looking at him because I knew him from somewhere…. It wasn’t until he did his warmup act that I realized he was the Naked Trucker :P.

I knew that was him the moment I heard the voice.  I’m thinking one possibility is that not using his real name in the CT credits might have something to do with SAG rules, but that’s just my idea, not based on anything really.  Most likely it’s just a goof.  I’ve liked him a heck of lot ever since watching those old Higgins Boys and Gruber shows long long ago.  And I’m very sad that The Naked Trucker and T Bones show from a few years ago wasn’t on longer.  That show was really hilarious.

Those in LA can often find Gruber performing at Largo, usually with Jim Turner and/or Mark Fite

Gruber is one awesome dude…  I wish he would email me with a tresure map to his secret stash of "Higgens Boys, and Gruber" studio tapes <sigh>
