Okay it’s been a couple years now so I am giving it another try at the DAP and all that edonkey jazz. I went to the DAP site, registered and followed all the directions getting the proper edonkey client, forwarding the proper port in my router, and successfully testing my connection. But when I logged on to the irc chatroom to get the server IP address and port in a message from "chanserv", as it says to do in the DAP FAQ, nothing happened. I let my irc client sit for hours in the #edonkey chat room and nothing happened. "Chanserv" was on the list, but I recieved no message giving me the magic words I need. I know there are DAP people hanging around here and I’m wondering if anyone has any tips, or is their something I’m just missing? Thanks in advance.

The information you are looking for is not in the channel - it’s in your status window. You do, however, need to join the channel to get the info in the status window. So join the channel, then consult the status window.
I had to watch Gamera vs. Zigra to remember what your name meant, cornjob. Please don’t shave my head.

Right, the information is actually sent to you as a notice so it will go where you have configured notices to show up.

the edonkey server information is in the channel topic on the IRC server…
be sure to follow the guide when setting up your edonkey client, lest you get a visit from the ban fairy.

Thanks for the info everyone. I have been trying to follow all the instructions as closely as possible so I can get it working and not get banned. I do kind of wish it was just good old easy bittorrent, but I guess they have their reasons for going with edonkey. I downloaded the DAP DVD version of Robot Monster from a torrent site and the quality is absolutely amazing, so I’d like to get some more episodes I need straight from the source.

The DAP’s been around a LONG time… the edonkey model works great because it keeps morons and script kiddies who are unable to read the FAQ safely at bay.
Too many other sites have taken our efforts and represented them as their own (listening Cheepnis?)

Actually, that episode with Kon-chan aka Kondo aka Cornjob is 312 Gamera vs. Guiron. Maybe if you’d gotten that episode from the DAP you’d know better!
PS. If it weren’t for the DAP, I doubt I’d be here. So bless those curmudgeons!
It's just a post. You should really just relax.

eDonkey hates my mac. I talked to one of the techies there and he couldn’t figure it out either. I did everything right too. Boo.

I did get it from the DAP. Both of them. But it was when I was watching Gamera vs. Zigra that Joel and the ‘bots made a reference to Cornjob, from Gamera vs. Guiron, that I connected cornjob’s name to the earlier movie. I’m old now, so I’m a bit slow. Be nice to your elders.

Well you don’t need edonkey anymore so people can stop moaning. :P
